Here is How you can give your Hair some Extra Love this Summer

Summer calls for extra care and precautions to prevent hair damage. Damages caused due to unhealthy hair care practices can be hard to revive. This season let’s take an oath to take good care of our hair. Let’s go through a few easy tips that don’t put a hole in our pocket.

  1. Don’t let the sun strike

Protecting your skin and hair from direct exposure of sunlight, especially during noon is very important as it can have adverse effects and cause dryness and frizz. Keep in mind to cover your hair preferably with a light scarf to restrict direct sunlight from causing damage.

  1. Moisturize the ends

Keeping your hair moisturized, especially the ends, is vital to maintaining good hair health. Ensure that a well hydrating serum or light oil is applied to the hair ends to prevent hair breakage, split ends, and frizz. Especially during summer, the hair is prone to a higher level of dryness which can be reduced by moisturizing at frequent intervals.

  1. Try loose hairstyles

Keeping your hair tied up in a tight pony leads to traction alopecia. This pulls the hair tight and can lead to a receding hairline and even increase hair fall. In summer, the hair is prone to higher risks so caution must be taken. It is preferred to tie hair in loose buns or loose plaits to reduce hair being pulled.

  1. Avoid excess heat

Summer in itself is stressful for hair in terms of heat, humidity, and dryness. For those who rely on hairstyling regularly, this season might be the time to rethink your hairstyling techniques. Try your best to stay away from styling your hair using heat tools every day. If one cannot afford to stay away from doing so, try maintaining the heat level between low and medium to reduce the effect of heat on hair. Also apply protective serums or creams before styling to reduce the damage.

  1. Brush carefully

Never tug or pull your hair even when in a rush. It can cause harm to the hair at the root level and yank out hair abruptly causing damage to the follicles. This abrupt pulling could lead to follicle damage that can be very hard to restore. Also never brush when your hair is wet.

  1. Use appropriate hair-care products

Like sunscreen is a holy grail to maintain good skin, adequate hair health demands the use of hair products with UV protection. Exposure of the hair to UV rays can result in dry, dull, damaged, and frizzy hair. Even when considering the practice of using a scarf, it is recommended to include a summer-friendly hair care regimen to minimize the effects.

  1. Take a trim when necessary

Summer  mostly involves dry hair and split ends. If the split ends do get out of hand, a trim can always prove beneficial.

  1. Choose the right conditioner

Conditioners are a common follow-up procedure post shampoo. Each hair type has a suitable conditioner as well, also taking into consideration one’s hair concerns. But did you know you could reap better benefits by revamping your hair care routine as the season changes? Well, not everyone pays attention to it. During summer, look for a conditioner that has better hydrating capacitiy to prevent dryness and frizz caused by the heat and humidity in the environment.

  1. Drink a sufficient amount of water

Hydrate! Hydrate! Hydrate! The importance of staying hydrated can never be overruled. Drinking an adequate quantity of water is vital to keep hair health in check. It benefits the overall body and hence provides hydration to hair from the roots. Include smoothies in your diet.

  1. Reap the benefits of deep-oiling

In a dry season, oiling can be a game-changer. It helps keep the hair moisturized and healthy. The oil prevents breakage due to dryness to a huge extent. When deep-oiling remember to massage the scalp well to increase the blood flow. You can use one oil or a combination of two or more oils to make the oil a lot more effective.

Summary

Summer is a great time to take a break and look into your routines. It requires some extra care, however, you will be glad you took the time to pay attention to the routines of your life. It is never too late to have a little revamp! Stay hydrated, keep a check on healthy sun-protection practices, binge on loads of seasonal fruits and enjoy the season.
