Consistency is the key to a healthy life

Standing in front of the mirror looking at your bloated tummy and randomly deciding to eat healthy from the next day onwards, do you also do this? The answer would probably be yes. However, this is not how you get in shape. You need to maintain a proper diet with the right nutrients. Because thinking and starting to eat healthy is never difficult, but sticking with it is. And you know the worst part? Cravings, stress, and mood swings make it 10 times more difficult. But there’s also a good part, and what’s that? Well, the good news is that committing to a balanced diet is possible, no matter how difficult it may seem on some days. And, and, and, it also does not imply that you must give up your favourite meals.

There are several tips and tricks that can help you eat healthier, and most of them are easy. Shall we start?

Consume a diet that is high in whole foods

Well, this one is obvious. When we talk about a healthy diet, it means it should consist of whole foods. Wondering what whole food is? Well, foods that have been lightly processed are known as "whole foods."

  • fruits
  • vegetables
  • whole grains
  • eggs and dairy
  • legumes
  • nuts and seeds

Whole foods are rich in minerals, vitamins, and fibre that are good for the entire body. And it also helps to prevent chronic diseases like diabetes and obesity. On the other hand, junk foods like soda, chips encourage chronic diseases.

Turn to professionals

Aahhh! Every person you come across in a day must have some opinion on what you should eat and what you shouldn’t eat. But who should you actually listen to? The answer is professionals. Yes, you can always have a professional with you on your journey. Professionals can help you figure out what is right for you, be it your diet, timing, or how much to eat.

Find out what diet is best for you

We are all different, and so does the 'ideal diet’ for us. No one diet will work for everyone. Genetics, mental health, job schedules, relationships, cultural customs, and all other factors have a role in how we live..

In a nutshell, figure out the diet that makes you feel your best and that you can maintain over time.

It’s okay to crave snacks

Hey, come on, we are all human, and it is completely normal for us to crave tasty snacks every now and then. However, the craving gets stronger when we are extremely hungry. Maintaining a supply of healthy and satisfying snacks on hand is an excellent strategy to starve off hunger until your next big meal. At such times, go for snacks that are high in protein and fibre. Some of the tastiest options are

  • hummus or roasted chickpeas,
  • whole-grain crackers,
  • fresh fruits and vegetables,
  • yogurt, popcorn
  • hard-boiled eggs
  • mixed nuts and nut butter,

Final words- Be patient

It's a journey, not a race, to stick to a better diet.

You can not just try one diet and expect it to work the best for you. That's not how it works. It takes trial and error to figure out what diet is best for you. It can even take more days than expected, don't lose hope, and have patience.

As long as you establish reasonable goals for yourself, stay dedicated, and review your progress regularly, you'll be perfectly OK. Your diet will probably continue to improve.
